Primo Prime Lenses

Panavision’s Academy Award winning series of Primo Prime lenses combine high contrast and resolution, even field illumination, and negligible veiling glare, ghosting, and distortion. Primo lenses intercut seamlessly with other lenses in the Primo line, and are designed for use with film and digital cameras.

The standard (SL) series of Primo Prime lenses include focal lengths ranging from 10mm to 150mm with widest apertures of T1.9. Close focusing distances range from 2 feet to 5 feet 9 inches. All Primo Primes are compatible with the 1.4x Primo Extender which reduces your exposure by a full stop.

Primo Close Focus Lenses

Panavision offers a set of close focus prime lenses ranging from 14.5mm to 35mm, with widest apertures of T1.9 and close focusing distances ranging from 7 ½ inches to 11 inches. This can translate to close focus of 2 inches or less from the front of the lens. The Primo Close Focus 14.5mm is compatible with a Wide Angle Adapter to create an 11.5mm wide-angle lens. 

Macro and Specialty Lenses

Macro Lenses SM Series

These lenses matched the Primo®  Primes for color and performance.  The focal lengths in this series of lenses ranges from 50mm to 200mm with maximum apertures ranging from T1.4 for the 50mm lens to T4 for the 200mm lens. Close focus distances range from 9 inches to 27 inches. The 90mm macro focuses through normal magnification ratios to macro (1:1) and down to micro. (Micro magnification is where the image on the film or sensor is larger than life-size.)

Panavision® Frazier Lens System - FLS

The Frazier Lens System features a unique “swivel tip” that enables smooth panning, tilting, Dutch Head movements, and rotation about the optical axis (both through 360º, with unlimited global orientation) for a wide range of taking lenses. Requiring just a simple turn of a follow-focus type knob, the FLS produces a continual image rotation centered about the optical axis (through 360º) while the camera system remains stationary.

Combined with a wide angle taking lens, the FLS can also deliver extreme depth of field to produce unusual shots of in-focus objects placed anywhere from macro to infinity distances. The physical shape and movements provided by the system resolve the lighting difficulties usually associated with close focus/macro objects. Other features include internal filtration (glass and/or gels, manual infinitely adjustable polarizer) and the acceptance of bellow-less perspective control and slant focus lenses for the most unusual shots.

The system covers the Super 35mm format with a maximum aperture of T7.1 and features dual focus and T-stop scales.

6mm T2.8 Fisheye Lens - SF6

This lens covers the Super 35mm format and fits on all Panaflex 35mm cameras. It has a close focus distance of 1 foot 6 inches with a more than 180-degree field of view. The lens accepts one internal 40.5mm glass filter and up to two gels, or one manually rotatable 40.5mm glass filter.

6mm T3.5 Nikon Fisheye Lens - SPN6

This lens covers the TV safe action format only and fits on all Panaflex 35mm cameras.  It has a close focus distance of 10 feet 6 inches and a 200 degree field of view.  The lens accepts one internal 40.5mm glass filter.

Inclining / Low-angle Prism - IP3

A low angle prism allows you to shoot only a few inches from the floor. For proper results, the widest spherical lens should be a 21mm and the widest anamorphic a 35mm C Series or G Series. The Prism effects is a ¼-stop loss.

1.4x Primo Extender - 1.4XE & 2x Lens Extender – 2XE

These extenders mount between the lens and the camera to increase the focal length range of the lens. The 1.4x extender imposes a 1-stop loss, while the 2x extender effects a 2-stop loss.

Series 2000 Century Precision Periscope - CV35II/CPPS2T

Designed for superb rendering of miniatures and tabletop shots, the Century Precision Periscope works well in a variety other shooting situations. The periscope, which is a T4, provides improved image quality, good field illumination, and reduced field curvature. The iris of the periscope gives you the control needed to minimize vignetting.  The Periscope works with most Panavision lenses, has its own aperture readings, and works with standard follow focus units.

Innovision Probe II - IVP2

The Probe II provides excellent optics and enables shooting from a very low perspective. Its high resolution glass elements provide excellent sharpness and great depth of field. The Probe II features 40.5mm drop-in filtration and comes in six focal lengths: 9mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm, 32mm, and 40mm. The Probe II also includes a 45-degree prism attachment for the 16mm, 20mm, and 32mm lenses. The small diameter primes are ideal for tight spaces and macro magnification.

Revolving Zoom Mesmerizer - RZM

This Cooke 5-1 zoom lens has a maximum aperture of T4.8 and contains a motorized rotating anamorphic element.

Kish Front Anamorphic Mesmerizer - MES

A mesmerizer attachment for 75mm and longer prime lenses.

Low Distortion Wide Angle Adapter – SLWA

A wide-angle attachment for the Primo Close Focus 14.5 mm lens which converts it to 11.5mm.

Century Fisheye Adapter – CFA

This adapter for selected 16mm and 35mm prime lenses creates severe distortion and exaggerated depth in the image.

Portrait Lenses   

The portrait lenses provide a soft focus look around the edges of the frame, leaving the center of the frame in sharp focus. There are eleven prime portrait lenses in focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 85mm, with close focus distances ranging from 2 feet to 2 feet 6 inches and apertures of T1.4 to T3. There is one zoom portrait lens – a 20-100mm with close focus of 2 feet six inches and an aperture of T3.1.

Flare Lenses

Panavision created these popular lenses were for the movie Saving Private Ryan. Since then, these lenses have become a high-demand member of Panavision's specialty optics inventory. There are nineteen prime flare lenses in focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 135mm, with close focus distances ranging from 2 feet to 5 feet and apertures of T1.3 to T3.0. The coatings and special internal characteristics of these lenses create flare and decreasing resolution, contrast, and saturation.

Slant Focus Lenses

These lenses allow tilting of the focus plane in any direction before or during shooting. There is no change in perspective and the effect is similar to a split diopter but with no line to hide and continuous variable power.  We offer two slant focus lenses – one a 24mm with a T3.5 aperture and 12-inch close focus, the other a 45mm with a T2.8 and 16-inch close focus. 

Panavision/Century Swing Shift System - PVB

The PVB features a bellows lens system that allows for a variety of extreme lens movements including swing, shift, tilt, rise and fall, macro focusing, and beyond. Compatible with all Panavision mounted camera systems, the PVB series includes 12 lenses in focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 150mm and apertures from T2.8 to T4.5.

Cooke S4/i Lenses

The Cooke S4/i focal lengths range from 12mm to 300mm, all with an aperture of T2 and close focus distances ranging from 9 inches to 7 feet. Colour matched and compatible with most lenses in the Cooke line, the S4 offers excellent optical and mechanical performance with minimal veiling glare, ghosting, and reflections.

Specifically designed for all PL mounted professional motion picture film and electronic cameras, the /i Technology provides the easy reference to  information about lens settings (e.g., focus distance, aperture, depth-of-field, hyperfocal distance, etc.). Panavision stocks both ranges of Cooke S4's.

Zeiss Master Primes and Ultra Primes

Zeiss Master Primes offer focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 150mm, all with an aperture of T1.3 and close focus distances ranging from 14 inches to 4 feet 11 inches. These lenses combine high contrast and resolution, even field illumination, negligible veiling glare, and virtually no breathing.

The focal lengths of the Zeiss Ultra Primes range from 10mm to 180mm, with apertures ranging from T1.7 to T2.3 and close focus distances ranging from 9 inches to 8 ½ feet. These lenses combine high contrast and resolution and even field illumination.

Angenieux Optimo Zoom

An excellent companion to Panavision’s line of zoom lenses, the Optimo 15mm-40mm zoom has an aperture of T2.6 and a close focus distance of 2 feet. This lens provides excellent contrast and colour reproduction with no breathing. Available in PL and PV mounts.

Super Baltar

These vintage lenses provide dramatic high contrast with warm flesh tones and cool flares, with focal lengths from 20mm to 150mm, apertures ranging from T2.3 to T3, and close focus distances ranging from 18 inches to 6 feet.

Kowas

These lenses – lower in contrast than the Baltars – deliver cooler flesh tones and warm flares. The Kowas' focal lengths range from 25mm to 75mm and close focus distances from 1 foot to 3 feet, all with an aperture of T2.3

T Series Anamorphic Lenses

The T Series lenses build on Panavision’s long tradition of designing and developing high-quality anamorphic lenses for motion picture. They combine new optical layouts with mechanical advances from the G series, but have a larger sweet spot and focus closer than some of their predecessors. Optical features of the T Series lenses include high contrast, well balanced aberration control, excellent glare resistance, tightly controlled anamorphic squeeze ratio, and minimal breathing.
 
T Series lenses engraved focus and T-stop scales appear on both sides of the lens, with metric focus and T-stop gears arranged in the standard Panavision locations. Add in the lightweight, compact design, and you have a lens that delivers superior optical quality in an easy to use package.  The T Series focal lengths include 35mm, 60mm, 100mm, 135mm, 150mm primes which are augmented by the AWZ2.3 37-85mm zoom.  The primes have a typical speed of T2.3 and close focus of 2 feet. The T60 focuses down to 1 ½ ft. Additional focal lengths will be announced soon, including 28mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm and 180mm.
 
All the lenses in the T Series primes have a common front diameter of 4.44 inches to make changing lenses simpler.
 
They are also tuned to be compatible with digital sensors without losing any of the imaging characteristics that have become part of Panavision’s anamorphic grammar. 

AWZ2.3 37-85mm T2.8

The AWZ2.3 is an evolution of our popular AWZ 40-80 zoom lens, and complements the T Series primes. The front anamorphic construction follows Panavision tradition and the associated imaging performance. The AWZ2.3 is optimized for electronic sensors (not compatible with spinning mirror cameras) while retaining desirable anamorphic flaring and breathing characteristics. 
 
The optical layout adopts mechanical advances from the G series, and provides a large sweet spot of focus. Optical features include high contrast, well balanced aberration control, excellent glare resistance, tightly controlled anamorphic squeeze ratio, and minimal breathing.
 
This relatively compact zoom weighs 14 lbs. and measures 12.8 inches long. Speed is T2.8 and close focus is 2 ¾ ft. Focus, zoom, and iris scales are engraved on both sides.
 
The gears are metric module 0.8 and zoom motor and follow focus mounting points are integrated.

All the lenses in the T Series primes have a common front diameter of 4.44 inches to make changing lenses simpler.
 
They are also tuned to be compatible with digital sensors without losing any of the imaging characteristics that have become part of Panavision’s anamorphic grammar. 

AWZ2.3 37-85mm T2.8

The AWZ2.3 is an evolution of our popular AWZ 40-80 zoom lens, and complements the T Series primes. The front anamorphic construction follows Panavision tradition and the associated imaging performance. The AWZ2.3 is optimized for electronic sensors (not compatible with spinning mirror cameras) while retaining desirable anamorphic flaring and breathing characteristics. 
 
The optical layout adopts mechanical advances from the G series, and provides a large sweet spot of focus. Optical features include high contrast, well balanced aberration control, excellent glare resistance, tightly controlled anamorphic squeeze ratio, and minimal breathing.
 
This relatively compact zoom weighs 14 lbs. and measures 12.8 inches long. Speed is T2.8 and close focus is 2 ¾ ft. Focus, zoom, and iris scales are engraved on both sides.
 
The gears are metric module 0.8 and zoom motor and follow focus mounting points are integrated.

ALZ10 42-425mm T4.5

The AZL10 is the lastest addition to our T Series anamorphic series. The rear anamorphic construction follows Panavision tradition and the associated imaging performance. The ALZ10 is optimized for larger sensor coverage and can cover the Millennium DXL 7K anamorphic at all zoom, focus and iris settings. The ALZ10 covers DXL 8K anamorphic to 44mm. 

The optical layout provides a large sweet spot of focus. Optical features include high contrast, better field illumination, well balanced aberration control, excellent glare resistance, tightly controlled anamorphic squeeze ratio, and minimal breathing.
 
Similar in size and weight to the ALZ11, the ALZ10 measures 16.4 inches long and weighs 18.2 lbs. Speed is T4.5 and close focus is 4 ft.
