Large Format Lens Specifications
Primo X

Primo X is the first cinema lens specially designed for use on drones and gimbals. They are fully sealed, weather proof, and counterbalanced to be aerodynamic, and able to easily maintain a proper center of gravity. Primo X lenses come in two primes – 14mm (T3.1) and 24mm (T1.6) – and one 24-70mm zoom (T2.8). Available in 2019.
Panaspeed

The Panaspeed lens series is a high speed, large-format companion to the Primo-L series of optics. Sharing many of the same traits – such as excellent veiling glare resistance, a blend of technical aberration correction, and the introduction of artistic nuances in the form of select aberration inclusion – the Panaspeeds also incorporate improved features including no blue line, better close focus, anti-breathing control, faster aperture, and greater field illumination. At T/1.4, these lenses are the fastest optics available for large-format cinematography. Panaspeeds are compatible with film and digital 35mm and full-frame cameras equipped with SP70 mounts.

H Series

Evoking a classic portrait look, the H Series offers rounded, soft roll-off between the foreground and background. The H series lenses are reminiscent of the photographic techniques of the 20th century, producing a pleasing skin tone quality and a layer of depth that gives the portraits and scenes a three-dimensional quality. The true vintage glass offers slightly elevated blacks for softer contrast. Adding to its innovative traits are the smooth edge transitions, allowing subjects to be naturally placed within the depth of the image. The combined characteristics equate to a sculptured image that transcends the sterility of digital sensors. The H series can be used with both Super 35 and large-format sensors.

Ultra Vista

The new Panavision Ultra Vista lens covers the full frame of current 8K sensors with a 1.65x squeeze, offering a true 4K image area on all large format sensor cameras. The resulting images are similar to an Ultra Panavision 70 1.3x squeeze look – maintaining traditional flares, vertical bias, and the organic nature associated with anamorphic photography. Ultra Vista evokes similar characteristics to the C series anamorphics with images that are not too sharp and have a nice transition between details, offering a pleasing fall-off between foreground and background. The result is a fuller image that delivers more apparent depth. The Ultra Vista lenses are compatible with any camera that can accommodate a System 65 mount.

Ultra Panatar

Panavision Ultra Panatar lenses captures a soft, glamorous, classic-looking image with a 1.3x anamorphic squeeze ratio. Panavision utilizes technology that focuses the lenses with cylindrical components, accentuating the anamorphic look much more than an anamorphic lens with spherical mechanisms. Panavision manipulated the elliptical bokeh on this beloved lens to look like a higher compression ratio lens. The 1.3x squeeze ratios produce an image that creates the unique artistic qualities associated with anamorphic lenses while providing the technical advantage of utilizing more capture area of modern digital sensors. This is a facet that has not been seen since film dominated motion picture image capture. Ultra Panatar’s credits include both Avengers: End Game and Avengers: Infinity War. The Ultra Panatars fit any camera that can accommodate the System 65 camera mount.

Primo Artiste

The Primo Artiste lenses are a full series of T/1.8 prime lenses, making them one of the fastest optics available for large-format cinematography. The Artiste series is an evolutionary step in design, becoming the second series from Panavision to include a fully internalized motor and complete metadata compatibility. The essence of the Artiste concept is an innovative configuration that takes advantage of the aesthetic flexibility available within large-format digital sensors, with the resulting look evoking a quality reminiscent of vintage optics. The series incorporates modern features such as focus breathing control, even field illumination and optimized close focus performance. An added feature includes a true anamorphic glass attachment that retains the spherical nature of the base lens yet induces many of the artifacts associated with anamorphic photography such as directional flares and distorted bokeh. The Primo Artiste lenses work on all 35mm and full-frame format cameras fitted with SP70 mounts.
